Let me tell you a story about a flood in the Delta country. Civil defense folks pulled up to the front porch and there sat a farmer. The water was done up over his boots. The civil defense man in the boat said, “Oh, sir, it’s projected and predicted that the dam is about to burst. Get in the boat. Let me save you.”

He said, “You go ahead, fellow, with your boat. God’s gonna take care of me.”

Five hours later, the boat came back and the fellow was sitting up on the roof, hanging onto the chimney. Water was up over his belt buckle. The civil defense boat pulled up and the man said, “Oh, sir, get in the boat. The dam did burst. Ain’t no hope for you. Get in the boat.”

The man said, “Y’all go ahead. God’s gonna take care of me.”

About an hour later, a helicopter flew over. The man is standing up on the chimney. That helicopter hovered down over him, and let the rope down. They had a bullhorn, “Catch a-hold of the rope, sir! This is your last chance. Catch a-hold of the rope.”

The fellow said, “Go ahead. God’s gonna take care of me.”

Well, the scene shifts to heaven. The fellow is graveyard dead-drowned. The fellow looked at the Lord and said, “Lord, I’m disappointed. You said you was going to take care of me. I’m embarrassed.”

The Lord said, “You dummy, I sent two boats and a helicopter!”

Super Sentai vs Power Rangers

I admit that I still love watching the Super Sentai series. Even the Kamen Rider series. Am I too old? Never. Hollywood is still making movies based on characters from comic books and cartoon shows I enjoyed as a kid. Some would say it’s due to their inability to actually writing something worth watching. I say it’s because the people in charge are of my age and are simply celebrating the days of their youth, which was the greatest.  To whereas kids nowadays are super glued to a computer screen or cell phone.

But I’m getting off target. The Sentai Series is really good entertainment that we watch as a family. As of this writing we are getting ready to watch the final episode of Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters. As here in America a new Power Rangers show has just begun, Power Rangers Megaforce. For those keeping score, it the Americanized version of Tensou Sentai Goseiger.

Kamen Rider x Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen movie

The Japanese version is as follows:

Unknown to the people of Earth, there is a branch of humanity called the "Gosei Angels" whose mission is to protect the Earth. When the Earth is targeted by an evil alien invasion force called Warstar, they destroy the Heaven's Tower, the bridge between the Earth and the Gosei World, home of the Gosei Angels, to keep them from interfering. However, five apprentice Gosei Angels are on Earth at the time and, while finding a way to return back home, they become the Goseigers to stop Warstar.

The American version:

When the evil Warstar aliens attack Earth, the supernatural guardian Gosei and his faithful robot assistant Tensou recruit five teenagers with attitude to combat the invading forces. Equipped with powers that grant them mastery over martial arts and other forms of combat, the teenagers transform into the latest champions of good: The Power Rangers Megaforce.

Power Rangers Megaforce is basically an almost straight copy of the plot from the Super Sentai show, Engine Sentai Go-onger later renamed as Power Rangers RPM. In all the years of Power Rangers bringing the Super Sentai series to the rest of the world has been a really great thing to do. It has made many people like me flock to an assortment of web sites to watch the Super Sentai series rather than the water clogged version of it.

Power Rangers in my opinion, is what I imagine would have come from the mind of Weird Al Yankovic who had overdosed on crack cocaine while using only hard whiskey while he was doing beer bongs. I figure the way the Power Rangers are continually watering down the entertainment value of the Super Sentai series that by the time the series makes it to Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger could be something of a huge letdown. Again.

The Sentai Series after Tensou Sentai Goseiger:

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger : A group of young pirates come from space to Earth to obtain the "Greatest Treasure in the Universe", which can only be acquired after obtaining the "Greater Powers" of the different 34 Super Sentai Teams. However, they end up facing the Space Empire Zangyack, whose earlier invasion forces were wiped out by the 34 Sentai groups long ago before a new invasion force is established under Commander Warz Gill, the emperor's son. As a result, due to their history with the empire, the space pirates use the powers of the older teams and attempt to master their powers to fight the Zangyack forces as the Gokaigers.

What if?

Power Rangers Key Masters:

While a group of high school kids are rehearsing their school play called The Ice Pirates based on the 1984 movie, the planet is attacked by the Space Empire who want to recover a great treasure hidden on Earth. During the attack a robot bird is found with a chest containing keys of all the past Rangers who have protected the Earth. As they are still wearing their pirate costumes, they are transformed into Power Rangers Key Masters. Fighting the Space Empire, they continue to rehearse and perform school plays and musicals as brainless school bullies led by a disgruntled teacher tries to put an end to the drama club.

I’m joking about the American version of this show. But for anyone like me who grew up watching the Super Sentai Series then comparing it to the Power Rangers version of the series will more than likely agree with me on this theme idea. The people behind the Power Rangers pick and choose what they want to put into each show. Mainly picking the needed materials from each series and choosing to add something else.

But the one thing I would love to see broadcast here in America are the actual Super Sentai Series movies. Where two different Sentai groups, even the Kamen Rider crossovers, would meet as they both battle the combined bad guys from both shows. Dubbed or subtitles it doesn't matter. What will is for those who have never seen a Super Sentai show to finally know what real entertainment is. Experiencing the real flavor of these shows rather than watching a highlighted clip show.

Be careful what you wish for you

The following is from a diary entry of a woman who wanted to have a greater sex life with her husband. She later regretted her choice as the old Chinese proverb has clearly testified ~ "Be careful what you wish for you may just get it".

Day 1

Just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with not much to celebrate. When it came time to re-enact our wedding night, he locked himself in the bathroom and cried.

Day 2

Today, he says he has a big secret to tell me. He’s impotent, he says, and he wants me to be the first to know. Why doesn't he tell me something I don’t know! I mean, he actually thinks I haven’t noticed.

Day 3

This marriage is in trouble. A woman has needs. Yesterday, I saw a picture of Nelson’s Column and burst into tears.

Day 4

A miracle has happened! There’s a new drug on the market that will fix his ‘problem’. It’s called Viagra. I told him that if he takes Viagra, things will be just like they were on our wedding night. I think this will work. I replaced his Prozac with the Viagra, hoping to lift something other than his mood.

Day 5

What absolute bliss!!.

Isn't life wonderful but it’s difficult to write while he’s doing that.

Day 7

This Viagra thing has gone to his head. No pun intended! Yesterday, at Burger King, the manager asked me if I’d like a Whopper. He thought they were talking about him. But, have to admit it’s very nice – I don’t think I've ever been so happy.

Day 8

I think he took too many over the weekend. Yesterday, instead of mowing the lawn, he was using his new friend as a weed whacker. I’m also getting a bit sore down there.

Day 9

No time to write. He might catch me.

Day 10

Okay, I admit it. I’m hiding. I mean, a girl can only take so much. And to make matters worse, he’s washing the Viagra down with neat whisky! What am I going to do? I feel tacky all over….

Day 11

I’m basically being screwed to death. It’s like living with a Black and Decker drill. I woke up this morning hot-glued to the bed. Even my armpits hurt. He’s a complete pig.

Day 12

I wish he was gay. I've stopped wearing make-up, cleaning my teeth or even washing but he still keeps coming after me! Even yawning has become dangerous…

Day 13

Every time I shut my eyes, there’s a sneak attack! It’s like going to bed with a scud missile. I can hardly walk and if he tries that “Oops, sorry” thing again, I’ll kill the bastard.

Day 14

I've done everything to turn him off. Nothing is working. I even started dressing like a nun but this just seems to make him hornier. Help me!

Day 15

I think I’ll have to kill him. I’m starting to stick to everything I sit on. The cat and dog won’t go near him and our friends don’t come over any more. Last night I told him to go and fuck himself and he did.

Day 16

The bastard has started to complain about headaches. I hope the bloody thing explodes. I did suggest he might try stopping the Viagra and going back on Prozac.

Day 17

Switched the pills but it doesn't seem to have made any difference…Christ! Here he comes again!

Day 18

He’s back on Prozac. The lazy sod just sits there in front of the TV all day with that remote control in his hand and expects me to do everything for him. What absolute bliss!
