Gackt at Sendai
On March 1st, GACKT held a surprise live during a graduation
ceremony at Tohoku High School Komatsushima Campus in Sendai. (story link here)
GACKT called out to the 247 graduates, “As you leave this
place, I want you to become a person who will be able to push the backs of
other people. With these feelings, I will gift my song.”
After singing the graduation song, “No ni Saku Hana no You
ni“, GACKT expressed, “Dreams aren’t something you see. Dreams are something
you fulfill. I am looking forward to your futures! Congratulations on
graduating!”
Tohoku High School has a reputation of nurturing athletes,
as some of their alumni include professional baseball player Darvish Yu and
female golfer Miyazato Ai. The teachers asked GACKT to sing for the ceremony as
they felt he would give the graduates the power to step forward.
Gackt, who is a member of YELLOW FRIED CHICKENz, released
their new PV for the song また、ここで逢いましょッ (Let's Meet Here Again).
The song is dedicated to victims of 3.11 and was shot in

Boryeong Mud Festival 2011
The Boryeong Mud Festival is an annual festival which takes
place during the summer in Boryeong, a town around 200 km south of Seoul, South
Korea. The first Mud Festival was staged in 1998 and by now the festival attracts over 3 million visitors to Boryeong.
The mud is taken from the Boryeong mud flats, and trucked to
the Daecheon beach area, where it is used as the centerpiece of the 'Mud
Experience Land'. The mud is considered rich in minerals and used to
manufacture cosmetics. The festival was originally conceived as a marketing
vehicle for Boryeong mud cosmetics.
Although the festival takes place over a period of around
two weeks, it is most famous for its final weekend, which is popular with
Korea's western population. The final weekend of the festival usually falls on
the second weekend in July.
In 1996 a range of cosmetics was produced using mud from the
Boryeong mud flats. The cosmetics were said to be full of minerals, bentonites,
and germaniums, all of which occur naturally in the mud from the area.
In order to promote these cosmetics, the Boryeong Mud
Festival was conceived. Through this festival, it was hoped people would learn
more about the mud and the cosmetics. The festival has become popular with Koreans
and western tourists, as well as American Military personnel stationed in the
country, and foreign English teachers working in Korea.
For the period of the festival several large attractions are
erected in the seafront area of Daecheon. These include a mud pool, mud slides,
mud prison and mud skiing competitions. Colored mud is also produced for body
painting. A large stage is erected on the beach, which is used for live music,
competitions and various other visual attractions.
A small market runs along the seafront selling cosmetics
made using the mud from Boryeong. Various health and beauty clinics offer
massages, acupuncture and other treatments utilizing the medicinal qualities of
the mud.
The festival closes with a large firework display.

GACKT marches at “Kenshin Festival”
GACKT appeared as a guest for the “Kenshin Festival” that took place on August 20th and 21st at Jouetsu City in Niigata. Original story here.
The “Kenshin Festival” is held every year to honor the bravery and influence of the warlord, Uesugi Kenshin of the Sengoku Period. On August 20th, GACKT held “GACKT Live Message Ima Koso Tsutaeru ‘Gi no Kokoro’“, and shared his thoughts about the restoration from the Great Tohoku Earthquake saying, “The will to cooperate, that is Bushido (the code of Samurai), and is the ‘heart of righteousness’ that Kenshin conveyed.”
Additionally, on August 21st, GACKT also participated in the “Shutsujin Gyouretsu”. Wearing an armor on a white horse, GACKT Kenshin led about 700 people around the town, and revived theKawanakajima Battle at Kasugayama-jou Shiseki Hiroba.
GACKT commented, “This Kenshin Festival is different from before, and holds a great meaning. After the disaster, many people recognized that the ‘heart of righteousness’ symbolizes the beauty of Japanese people’s hearts. What is the identity and qualities of Japanese people?”
He continued, “Instead of the rational ‘which will profit’ way of thinking; the presence and acts of the right at heart, as well as the spiritual strength is what makes Japanese people wonderful. I think we were able to deliver those thoughts. From now on, I want to continue delivering my thoughts as a Japanese, and as a samurai.”

GACKT - Episode.0 Live (with English Lyrics)

English Lyrics:
Yes, I am one who seizes their dreams, I stain my sword red for my ambitions
Because this is a world of warring states, I will take the earth no matter what I have to sacrifice1
I reflected on nothing, I wrote no letters even to my mother in my hometown
When I came to know my own immaturity, my body was stained in blood
The scars of a cruel battle
We are the defeated
There is not even salvation for the vanquished
The rain pours down heartlessly
Our dreams scatter as dew on our gravestones
As I head far away, the sound comes to me
A gentle, sad melody
It's like a young girl is singing somewhere
A crystal clear voice resounds
Suddenly, my tears welled up and fell
Thoughts of my hometown floated up
That voice made me realise
that peace is most important
If I can be reborn
like the girl who sang with that voice
I want to become someone
who can save people with my song
If I were able to take someone's burdens away
as mine are taken now, Ah!
Gackt - Bunraku

Bunraku is an upcoming 2011 computer-animated live action
fantasy that revolves around a "Man with No Name" stock character
known as 'The Drifter'. Directed by Guy Moshe from his own script, the title of
the film is based on a 400-year-old form of Japanese Puppet Theater, a style of
storytelling that uses 4-foot (1.2 m)-tall puppets with highly detailed heads,
each operated by several puppeteers who blend into the background wearing black
robes and hoods.
This classic tale is re-imagined in an entirely fresh visual
context, set in a unique world that mixes skewed reality with shadow-play
fantasy. The world of Bunraku is fantasy and reality, Samurai and Western all
combined.
The casting of the Japanese rock star came as a surprise
even to him. Although Gackt Camui has starred in Japanese television drama and
feature films, Bunraku is his first acting experience in an
international-flavored movie to date. The involvement of the Japanese artist
was officially announced on April 23, 2008. Gackt came to the attention of
director Guy Moshe through his role in the 2007 television historic drama Fūrin
Kazan, a year-long series produced by NHK. In this series, he portrayed the
heroic warlord Uesugi Kenshin, winning him accolades, not only for his acting
performance, but also for the single Returner ~Yami no Shūen~ and the video for
the same that were inspired by his role. Moshe went to Japan to entice Gackt to
join the project.

A Soldiers' Letter - English subtitles
I fixed the subtitles but I found out that I miss-spelled the word farewell in the video. In all a pretty good video on trying to get more people to write and send care packages to our servicemen serving so far away from home.

GACKT - Episode.0 (Full Version)
Episode.0 (Words and music by Mathru)
そう俺は夢を掴む者
Yes, I live to seize my dreams
野望のため刀を赤く染める
With ambitions, I drench my sword in crimson.
戦国の世が世であるから何を犠牲にしても天下を取る
In this world of Sengoku, I’ll take the country no matter what the sacrifice
何もかも省みずに故郷の母にも手紙書けず
No time for regrets, not even time to write to Mother back home
己の未熟さを知り 気付けば体は血に染まった
I learned my own callowness, and before I knew it my body was soaked in blood
残酷な戦の痕 俺たちは破れた人
With scars from the cruel battles
We find ourselves defeated
敗者には救いさえもなく 無情に雨は降り注ぐ
Nothing left for losers, not even salvation
Mercilessly, rain keeps falling down on us
墓標に夢は露と散る
On our tombs, our dreams scatter away like dews
遠く向こうから聴こえてくる優しく悲しい旋律
A gentle and sad melody from afar
少女が何処かで歌ってるようだ
I hear a girl singing from somewhere
透き通った声が響きわたる
Her crystal voice fills the air
ふと涙零れ落ちた
Suddenly I shed a tear
故郷が思い浮かんだ
A vision of home appeared in my mind
歌声が僕に気付かせた
Her singing made me realize...
平穏が一番大切だと
That the most precious thing is peace
もし生まれかわれるなら
If I can be reborn
この声の少女のように
I want to exist like this girl
歌声で人を救えるような存在になりたいと思うんだ
Who has a singing voice that heals
今の俺がそうであるように
Just like I am [being freed] right now
誰かの重荷を外せたなら
If I could free someone from their burden
嗚呼
Oh...
