Saving The Battery Powered Car

The big problem that limits the sales of battery powered cars is the range of how far one can drive it before it takes all night to charge it back up again. That means no long distant car trips for the family vacation, which limits the sale of these vehicles to inner city usage, slow drivers and Hollywood celebrities pretending to support the environment.

As with all new technologies that have come out over the years, the size decreases as newer innovations are developed. Just look at the first cell phones, VCR players, TV sets; big and bulky to super small and light weight. So as newer technologies are developed to shrink these car battery packs even smaller can create a new job market.

A new type of service stations can be created. Say a car is running low on battery power; the driver can pull into the service station where the battery pack is unplugged from the car, removed and is replaced with a fully charged battery. All this can be done while the driver is inside the store using the restroom and getting something to eat and drink and then heads back onto the open road.

Just an idea that may increase the sale of battery power cars and new types of auto service stations that can motivate people away from gas guzzling cars. But until that day comes, I will still prefer driving a Mustang.
