Just a Theory (for fun)

Please bear with me as I try my own theory, or at least a good sci-fi movie. Also I’m not that great on long fancy correct wording so please once again bear with me on this.

Theory no. 1
Extinction of the Dinosaurs (Cliff note version)

Currently the moon moves about 2 centimeters away from Earth a year. The gravity is strongest on the sides that always face the Earth due to centrifugal forces. Millions of years ago the moon was a lot closer to the Earth. Remember the scene from the movie ‘Joe vs. the Volcano’ when Tom Hanks see’s the moon come over the oceans horizon and you get the idea. Also all the land masses were bunched up together into one land mass called Pangaea. Whether it was one land mass or just starting to drift apart the whole planet looked like a giant eye ball from space at this time.

And now the hard part.

An asteroid belt lies between Mars and Jupiter but what if millions of years ago there could have been a planet there. Or to be more precise, a duel planet. Imagine Space Cruiser Yamato or the English title Star Blazers anime where the ship goes to a duel planet system for help. Now as all the planets in the solar system orbits the sun in an elliptical orbit, the duel planets orbit constantly changes depending on each planets location as their obit is closer to the sun. Over time these two planets would eventually collide giving way to the greater gravity forces of the sun. This would lead to the mother of all domino effects.

As these two planets collide into each other, they naturally break apart violently and slowly. As this huge mass is approaching an elliptical orbit, huge chunks of rocks from these two former planets are being pulled towards a now greater gravity force, the Sun. Huge boulders and debris the size of small countries are flying through space being pulled on by the sun with the nearest planet Mars in the way. Mars at this time period for all intense purposes could be just like Earth is now. But it is now being bombarded by a meteor shower like no other that is directly cooking the atmosphere. Whether the meteors made land fall or not isn’t important, the atmosphere is being cooked away exposing the planet to the solar winds and radiation. Think of the 1961 movie called ‘Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea’ when the Van Allen belt catches fire.

With little atmosphere, the entire planet starts to chock from a lack of oxygen and no protection from Solar radiation. The surface of Mars is beginning to erode away in a non stop sand blasting effect that is still going on today. If any life and or water are still on Mars today, it would be deep underground. But the next planet, Earth is becoming the next target.

Again at this time the moon is a lot closer to Earth that looks like a giant eyeball from space. As the meteors approach Earth, the moon which at this period of time was a rotating moon just happens to be lined up to take the brunt of the attack. Countless meteors are hitting the Moon as it is rotating around the Earth. For a long period of time the Moon is a shield to this devastating effect. While some do get through and strike the surface of Earth it is during this bombardment a unique thing starts to happen.

The moon has a very thick powdery surface. As the moon is being nonstop bombarded by meteors, the surface powder is being shot up away from the surface. With close proximity to the Earth at this time, the surface material is caught and pulled towards the Earth’s due to the planet’s gravity. The particles being so small and light, they simply encircled the plant as if the planet now has cataracts. With so much destructive effects towards the moon; losing surface materials, major craters and having its orbit changed due to the angles at which the moon was hit eventually causing the moons rotation to be the way it is now. Imagine tetherball, hitting it in certain areas can change its direction and course.

On Earth now, these tiny particles are encircling the planet like a nice quilt blanket. On a planet that is the perfect environment for cold blooded animals is now quietly and constantly cooling down. Over time many of these animals adapted and changed with the new environment. And many more of these animals basically died out. Other forms of life now have a better fighting chance of survival. This goes on for a great deal of time. And during this whole time those tiny particles that have been located on the other side of Earths atmosphere are beginning to slowly drift through and collecting towards the upper atmosphere. Think about the 1984 movie ‘Night of the Comet’.

By this time the dinosaurs have already died out and covered in sediment. And these tiny particles eventually rain down onto the planet giving the land surfaces a nice burnt snowy effect. Sediment as always, builds up as land masses continually move, changing the atmosphere conditions for the whole planet. By that, imagine what the planets weather would be like if Antarctica or for that matter any land mass wasn’t located at the South Pole. And imagine what the weather conditions would be like in the future if the land masses continue to move.

If the collision of the two planets never happened eventually the naturally shifting land masses on Earth would change the weather conditions of the planet but it would be over such a long period of time that the cold blooded life forms of that time would have adapted easily while the warm blooded animals would have stayed at their current evolutionary forms. The species that eventually evolved to become know as Homo sapiens would have been nothing more than deer meat for the evolved Dinosaur form.

This concludes the cliff note version on my theory of what happened to the dinosaurs. If anyone is offended, disgusted, annoyed, inspired, and grateful or whatever please try to remember that I have a great imagination and extremely poor penmanship. Finally writing all this down was for my entertainment. I also have a theory about Communism in the 1960’s America, a TV show called WKRP in Okinawa, Hogan’s Heroes movie, a pre-Thundercats movie and a Power Rangers show as a few things to keep my imagination busy.
